Building a £2.2m Portfolio of HMOs & BTLs whilst working Full Time, DBV talks!

With a background in scaling tech start-ups by building out and hiring teams globally, Lucy is the ‘Lion’ of the partnership and focuses on the business strategy and investor relations or ‘Front of House’ duties. Jules - the ‘Owl/ Monkey’ - has a background in financial crime within banking is focused on Business Operations & Financial Management within the business and loves all things numbers. 

Having grown a portfolio in the past 2+ years across 3 counties of both BTLs & HMOs. We changed our model just over a year ago to invest closer to home with the aim for capital growth as well as cashflow. This means we leave more equity in each deal than previous projects and refinance after a longer period of time than previously but each cashflow us £1600pcm. All our projects have a minimum of 30-50% ROI. 

We now partner with an NHS trust to provide shared housing for their international nurses which has proven to be Corona-proof in terms of demand and stability. In a rapidly-changing HMO market we strongly advocate servicing a tenant demand rather than just creating beautiful rooms hoping they’ll rent. Find your niche and establish your USP. 

We’ve experienced many challenges with HMO investing far from home whilst balancing busy jobs, as well choosing an area to fit your strategy and would be happy to chat through any investors struggling with this currently.
