Coronavirus \nThe Truth About Happiness\nApril 5, 2020, Pastor Michael Dascoli\n\nMyth: Given the right set of circumstances, anyone can be happy \n\nThe Pursuit of Happiness (by King Solomon) \n\nFirst: he went after knowledge (Gnosticism)\n\nConclusion: Knowledge will leave you with more questions than answers\n\nSecond: he went after pleasure (hedonism)\n\nConclusion: Pleasure has the potential of much damage \n\nThird: he tried his hand at hard work\n\nConclusion: You eventually run out of new ambitions\n\n\u201cA man can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in his work. This too, I see, is from the hand of God, 25for without Him, who can eat or find enjoyment? 26To the man who pleases Him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner He gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God. Ecclesiastes 2:24-25\n\nNow all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. 14For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil. Ecc. 12:13-14\n\n\u201cI have set the LORD always before me. Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. 9Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure\u202611You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your\npresence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand. Psalm 16:8-9, 11.\n\n\u201cI rejoice greatly in the Lord\u2026 12I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13I can do everything through him who gives me strength.\u201d Philippians 4:10a, 12-13\n\n\u201cRejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!\u201d Philippians 4:4\n\nACE-ING HAPPINESS\n\nAllow happiness to surprise you\n\n\u201c\u2026you will fill me with joy in your presence\u2026\u201d Psalms 16:11b\n\nDelight yourself in the LORD and He will give you\nthe desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4\n\nConsider happiness from a different angle\n\nEnd allowing circumstances, people and stuff to dictate happiness\n\n\u2026the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace\u2026Galatians 5:22\n\nRejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Philippians 4:4\n\nWhat is God\u2019s Spirit saying to you?\nHow must you respond?
