Summit Church mission: All Eyes on Jesus, for the sake of the world & for the glory of God.LOVE AT TIMES SEEMS UNREASONABLEWhen God called Noah to build an ark, his family was saved, because of his obedience.When God called Abraham to sacrifice his son, he became the father of many, because of his obedience.When God called Joseph, his dreams came true, because of his obedience.When God called Jesus to the cross, the world was saved, because of His obedience!Life Application: Love doesn\u2019t always make sense - Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart! (Psalm 37:4) THE CALL TO OBEDIENCE1 John 2:3 - We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands.\u201cDuring the days of Jesus\u2019 life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission. Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him.\u201d (Hebrews 5:7-9) PUTTING YOUR PASSION INTO ACTION1 John 2:4 - Whoever says, \u201cI know him,\u201d but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person.All a person\u2019s ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the Lord. (Proverbs 16:2)Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans. (Proverbs 16:3) In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord establishes his steps. (Proverbs 16:9) Life Application: Obedience is setting the love of Christ in your life in motion. I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God\u2019s mercy, to offer yourselves as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God\u2014for this is true worship! (Romans 12:1)THE FREEDOM OF OBEDIENCE1 John 2:5&6 - But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.Life Application: Knowing that we\u2019re fulfilling God's purposes in our lives is the one thing that frees us from the pressures of life. Therefore walk as Jesus did. (Philippians 2:1-11).What is God asking you to do? What passion is stirring in your heart? What step of freedom in obedience do you need to take in willing response to Him?
