Margy Whitmer produced the beloved TV series, Mister Rogers\u2019 Neighborhood, for many years. After production ended in 2001, she continued on with Fred Rogers Productions, producing live-action segments for Daniel Tiger\u2019s Neighborhood through the end of 2018, after which she remained a script consultant on the show through season 6. \xa0
Over the years, Margy has also been the liaison for Fred Rogers Productions to PBS\u2019s Ready To Learn Initiative. She co-created, wrote and produced video-based early childhood professional development workshop materials. And she was the project director for two series of picture books, \u201cFirst Experiences\u201d and \u201cLet\u2019s Talk About It.\u201d\xa0
She has held production and administrative positions at WQED-TV for both local and national programs, including the \u201cOnce Upon a Classic\u201d series and National Geographic Specials.\xa0
Margy has served on the board of the Women\u2019s Center and Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh, ultimately as board President. She\u2019s been a volunteer reader for Read Together and a steering committee member for Empty Bowls, which is an annual fundraising event for the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank to raise hunger awareness.
She is currently a reader and Board President for Reading Ready Pittsburgh, a nonprofit encouraging family engagement and early literacy through reading for children up to the age of 5.\xa0
