Tonight's special guest is Lovern Gordon from Avon, Massachusetts. "I grew up watching my father abuse my mother," she says, "then I fell into a relationship at 21 with my abuser. The abuse lasted 2 years and felt like life was slipping away with each day that it progressed. I felt isolation, fear, low self-esteem. I escaped in the wee hours of the morning as he slept to go to the hospital to seek help for the injuries I had sustained from the last attack. I still suffer from PTSD and I am now in therapy." Lovern is currently finishing up a DV Memoir entitled 'The Legacy He Left Me to be released on June 1st of this year via Paperclip Publishing. "When the hairs stand up on the back of your neck about something," she says, "listen to it, listen to your gut. Where you are now, if toxic, it’s not where you are destined to be." Ms Gordon is the founder of Love Life Now Foundation, Inc. which promotes year-round awareness around domestic violence (DV), via its initiatives, points people in the right direction for help and helps bridge the gap between DV shelters and communities they serve. She has appeared on numerous radio and television shows including 'CBS This Morning' nationally and NBC’s 'This is New England locally.' "It took a few years to get back to the business of me and realize none of it was my fault," remarks Lovern, "but between prayer, fellowship and trusting my gut, I am more alive than I ever was then.”
