It\u2019s Stephen\u2019s 2nd pick: \u2018The General,\u2019 the 1926 film directed by Buster Keaton and Clyde Bruckman \u2013 and of course also starring Buster Keaton. It\u2019s an action comedy set during the Civil War and largely centered around a stolen train and plenty of stunt work and it\u2019s been on Sight & Sound magazine\u2019s decennial poll of the \u201cgreatest films\u201d twice \u2013 at #8 in 1972, then at #10 in 1982.
