His most prominent \xa0works \xa0include: \xa0Bhagavad-gita As It Is, Srimad-Bhagavatam, and Sri \xa0\xa0Caitanya-caritamrita. |\xa0\nInternational Society for Krishna Consciousness, also \xa0popularly known as the Hare Krishna movement is a spiritual society \xa0founded by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada in July \xa01966 in New York. ISKCON belongs to the Gaudiya-Vaishnava sampradaya, a \xa0monotheistic tradition within Vedic culture. Today ISKCON comprises of \xa0more than 400 temples, 40 rural communities and over 100 vegetarian \xa0restaurants.\nThe aim of ISKCON is to acquaint all \xa0people of the world with universal principles of self-realization and \xa0God consciousness so that they may derive the highest benefit of \xa0spiritual understanding, unity and peace. The Vedic literature recommend \xa0that in the present age of Kali-yuga the most effective means of \xa0achieving self-realization is always hear about, glorify, and remember \xa0the all-attractive Supreme Lord Sri Krishna. Therefore, it recommends \xa0the chanting of the Holy Names: Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna \xa0Krishna Hare Hare / Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare. This \xa0sublime chanting puts the chanter directly in touch with the Supreme \xa0Lord through the sound vibration of His Holy Name.\nISKCON \xa0follows the teachings of the Vedas and Vedic scriptures, including the \xa0Bhagavad-gita and Srimad Bhagavatam which teach Vaishnavism or devotion \xa0to God (Krishna) in His Supreme Personal aspect of Sri Sri Radha \xa0Krishna.\nThese teachings are received through the \xa0preceptorial line known as the Brahma-Madhav-Gaudiya Vaishnava \xa0sampradaya. ISKCON is part of the disciplic succession which started \xa0with Lord Krishna Himself and continued with Srila Vyasadeva, Srila \xa0Madhavacharya, Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu and in the present day His Divine \xa0Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada and his followers.\nISKCON\u2019s \xa0teachings are non-sectarian, following the principle of sanatana dharma \xa0or eternal religion, which denotes the eternal activity of all living \xa0beings \u2013 loving devotional service (bhakti-yoga) to Supreme Personality \xa0of Godhead.
