Matthieu's cinematography work includes the documentary Xiao Jia Going Home for director Damien Ounouri and has worked as both cinematographer and editor on a number of films including the film K and the documentary Fidai, again for director Damien Ounouri.

Matthieu's projects as editor include the films Mr. Tree, The First Aggregate, and Longing for the Rain.

For director Jia Zhang-ke, Matthieu edited A Touch of Sin, for which he won a Golden Horse Best Film Editing Award, and more recently the film Mountains May Depart.

Matthieu's other recent editing work includes the films Life After Life and The Road to Mandalay.
