Seven\xa0is a 1995 American\xa0crime thriller film\xa0directed by\xa0David Fincher\xa0and written by\xa0Andrew Kevin Walker. It stars\xa0Brad Pitt\xa0and\xa0Morgan Freeman, with\xa0Gwyneth Paltrow, and\xa0John C. McGinley\xa0in supporting roles. Set in an unnamed, crime-ridden city,\xa0Seven's narrative follows disenchanted, nearly retired detective William Somerset (Freeman) and his newly transferred partner David Mills (Pitt) as they try to stop a\xa0serial killer\xa0from committing a series of murders based on the\xa0seven deadly sins.

Walker, an aspiring writer, based\xa0Seven\xa0on his experiences of moving from a suburban setting to New York City during a period of rising crime and drug addiction in the late 1980s.
