Auguste Rodin was a French sculptor in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He is described as the founder of modern sculpture. He modeled the human body with naturalism, and his sculptures celebrate individual character and physicality, but his most notable sculptures were criticized as they clashed with existing traditions.

One of his most famous works is titled “The Thinker”. As such, I think it’s appropriate we start here.

Stay with me to learn about Rodin’s journey and how he responded to rejection and controversy early in his life, including an early piece of work that was thought to be forged because it was too anatomically correct.
