It is taken from a book originally published in 1908 by Yei Theodora Ozaki, from Tokyo.\xa0The author\u2019s story was inspired by the Japanese classic, "Taketari Monogatari.\u201d In the story, the father, the bamboo-cutter, beseeches his beautiful and magical moon-princess adopted daughter to pick one of five gallant knights as her husband.
