Ep 23: Politics? Why Show Up

Published: March 23, 2018, 7:12 p.m.

In this episode, Jeremy throws a curve ball at Kirk by asking how he shows up in politics; a question Kirk would rather avoid. Turns out young Kirk was pretty involved in politics and even considered it as a career. He volunteered with his counties Republican central committee, interned in a Republican congressional office and was endorsed to run in a city council race. But after losing his taste for the right side of the aisle where is he now? Why doesn't he want to show up in politics? Where did his political drive go? And, what does it mean to show up in politics today?\xa0\xa0

Here is a list of what Kirk has learned and his guidelines for showing up in Politics:

  1. Cultures are changing fast.
  2. So listen well.
  3. Ask great questions.
  4. Avoid going to war. Peace is being able to sit with an enemy. War is seeking to eliminate (or dominate) an enemy.
  5. Try to find fundamentals and foundations where ever possible.
  6. Move closer to each other, it gets easier (not easy) to love the closer you get.
