Ed Giese takes another coaching path, this time to Budapest

Published: April 7, 2022, 9:12 p.m.

During the 2022 European Championships at BOK Sportcsarnok, I sat down with Illinois native and 1986 Division I All-American Ed Giese. Ed goes through his years wrestling in Illinois, competing at Minnesota in an era before J Robinson was coaching there, wrestling with Foxcatcher and help train the next level of wrestlers in Illinois through his work at Team Overtime with current Michigan head coach Sean Bormet.

Ed will then chat about what he’s doing in Hungary and how he’s made the adjustment to coaching women at the international level, most of whom have a developmental background much, much different than any wrestlers he’s ever coached before.

We’re all over the place, but you’re gonna learn something.
