I had the honor and pleasure to have a phone interview with Melba Moore! She was humble, gracious, honest and a sweet joy. Find out what she thought about being a legend and why she is transparent with her life\u2019s journey!
I interviewed Ms Moore to write an article for Sheen Magazine\u2019s website. The conversation was so rich, I asked her if she\u2019d mind if I released the authentic conversation and she said I could. Ms. Melba Moore who will be in Atlanta, GA on Friday, August 26th, 2022. She will receive the Joseph R. Biden Lifetime Achievement Award, honoring her career and Presidential Volunteer Service Award for her commitment to improvement within urban communities. You may know that she recently received her Star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame when she joined the class of 2023 which includes rocker Lenny Kravitz, Ludacris, Uma Thurman, Paul Walker (Posthumous), Ellen Pompeo, Charlie Wilson, Blake Shelton, and hit maker/percussionist Sheila E. She also, recently, released her latest album, Imagine.


Melba Made the History Books - In 2017, her rendition of \u201cLift Every Voice & Sing\u201d (recorded in 1990) entered the Congressional Record as Official Black National Anthem. It was also added to the US National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress as an \u201cAmerican Aural Treasure\u201d


Broadway and Television Firsts \u2013 After her stint in the legendary Broadway musical, \u201cHair\u201d, Ms. Moore went on to become one of the first Black actresses to earn a Tony (this for her role in the 1970 musical, \u201cPurlie\u201d). Two years later, she and songwriter Clifton Davis became the first Black couple to co-host a weekly variety series, \u201cThe Melba Moore/Clifton Davis Show\u201d, on CBS-TV in the summer of 1972.
