Imagine a dimension that has a higher vibrational rate than ours. In this dimension are worlds and people who have families and communities and nations, just like us. There are religions, good people, bad people, and different cultures. Everything is faster than the Earth dimension, and, to the people of the faster dimension, earth time seems slow and static. Now for some in the faster dimension, it’s a big adventure to take one of the earth life forms, as an animal for example, and move it around, and experience things from the earth time/dimension point of view. It’s fun, it’s easy, and it’s entertaining. And it’s wrong and forbidden. This Jinn dimension intersects the Earth time/space continuum, and so we live in parallel worlds. We aren’t usually aware of Jinn in the American culture, but in other cultures, like magic, it is a given. Jinn have families, many are Muslim, some Christian, some Jewish, other religions we don’t know, and some are rebels, and just plain hoodlums.
Jinn have wars, kings and kingdoms, coup de etats, states and countries. Some have been helpers of humans and very sincere believers. The stories of the prophet Solomon and his relations with Jinn are examples of this possibility.
Some Jinn are drawn to places where hearts are opening, because the people seem vulnerable and eager for new experiences. As the Sufi student advances through the training, and the nafs get cleared out, the internal vibration rate of the student increases. This means the capacity to observe this jinn dimension may come into focus. The sudden ability to see, feel, or hear “beings from another dimension” is often disorienting. It sometimes creates fear, panic, or confusion. This is another reason why it is important for sufis to gather where there is a shaykh. Many shaykhs have already experienced this ability to interact with jinn, and not only come to terms with it, but have developed relationships with the Jinn, and can detect the good and the bad ones, and know what the adab is of the situation.
A lawless jinn may enter someone’s body, usually at a very vulnerable moment. They might obtain entrance when you are sick; high through alcohol or drugs; or mentally unstable because of grief, stress, anger, or a nervous breakdown. Then, when you come out of the period of instability, you might feel “funny” and not quite yourself. If this does not go away, and you seem to do things you find odd; you may have a jinn infestation. What does the jinn get out of it? An opportunity to feel some power, to experience this world of more solid objects, and to play with feelings. This is called possession, and is forbidden by both Islam and the Jinn world.
If you feel that you might have this problem, first, check with your shaykh to see if it is true. If it is true, s/he may give you a prescription of Ayats to read, prayers to say, and maybe a special diet. As you gain in strength, you will find it easier to protect yourself, and able to identify and eliminate threats through these simple means.
If you feel you are being visited, I have found it expedient to say, “Salaam Aleikum. If you come in Allah’s Name, you are welcome. If not, leave now.” This is because your visitor may not be a jinni, but could be anyone from your shaykh, the Pirs to the Prophet (pbuh). Keep in rabita with your shaykh, and know that you are under his/her p
