Episode 165 - Watch Out For The Computer Support Virus Scam Phone Calls

Published: Feb. 1, 2018, 2 p.m.

I was sitting in my home office and the phone rang. A guy on the other end with a hard accent said his name was 'Mark' and said he detected viruses on my computer for several days. He goes on to try to scare me with computer terms and eventually pitches a $200 security cleaner.

This call, like many others, were a scam. There is no software, no viruses, no detections from random companies on the Internet only criminals.

This episode breaks down this scam and many like it and tell you simple steps to avoid them... hang up and forget about it.

Here is a collection of scam calls I recorded
