ABC's 'For Life' Tyla Harris

Published: Jan. 11, 2021, 9 p.m.

Tyla Harris is 20 years old and is already setting our television screens on fire with her role as Jasmine Wallace on ABC's hit series 'For Life.'

Unpacking her role, based on the real life story of the daughter of Isaac Wright Jr. who was wrongfully accused and incarcerated for selling drugs in NYC in 1991, we discuss the impact her t.v. role has had as she plays a Black unwed teenage mother. Tyla also shares jewels her veteran castmates have shared with her as she navigates real life and Hollywood.

Although young, I used this conversation as an opportunity for Tyla to discuss the current climate of America after the recent siege of the U.S. Capitol. We also talk about other racist experiences Tyla's had and she recounts visiting a local grocery store and being 'followed while Black.'

A must-see interview for the young and old as we redefine America and encourage it to revisit its past in order to prepare a better future.

Be sure to catch Tyla Harris on ABC's 'For Life.'
