With all the hot weather we have been having and the weather forecasters predicting more hot weather over the summer in this week's regular check up with Pharmacist Elizabeth Roddick from New Life Pharmacy in Glasgow we felt like it would be a good time to talk about how to keep cool and safe in the hot weather.
\n
\n\n\nElizabeth began by explaining to Connect Radio's Toby Davey why the hot weather is particularly dangerous for older people. \xa0
\n
\n\n\nElizabeth also outlined what symptoms people should be looking out for as signs of heat stroke and heat exhaustion, what advice Elizabeth would give to people to keep cool and safe when the weather does turn hot again and how we can also look after our pets in the heat too.
\n
\n\n\nAlso with the recent sad news of cold-water swimming tragedies, Elizabeth highlighted some of the dangers around cold-water swimming and the effects of cold-water shock.
\n
\n\n\nElizabeth also mentioned about a new book coming out soon titled 'Quality of Life for Women over 50'and you can find out more about the book by visiting the following link -
