2.1 Drum roll out the expert!

Why are we obsessed with the opinions of experts?  Why do we assert almost gospel-like devotion to what they say and why does the media make them omnipresent?  What is the motivation of an expert to come on morning television and do they have an agenda?  This might be a terrible thing, but experts are as human as the rest of us.  They fail in exactly the same way as the rest of us, including my favourite - hubris.
