In November, most Americans celebrate Thanksgiving with grateful hearts for their many blessings and with fond memories of learning about the traditional holiday story of the Pilgrims and Indians first meal together in the New World. Since gratefulness is a memory of the heart, Thanksgiving is a complicated holiday for Native Americans. . . Many Native American hearts and spirits are broken as they remember disease, death, genocide, poverty, hunger, land grabs, lost cultures and languages, broken families, Indian Boarding Schools, and missing Native Americans. This November, Mama B. urges her listeners to walk a mile in Native American moccasins. . .
