Harry, Jojo, Miani and Reka speak with Melbourne writer Gabrielle Wang, about her latest title 'The Beast of Hushing Wood'. Jojo was lucky enough to be the first young person in the world to read the book and she loved it!
Gabrielle is a multi award winning, bestselling children\u2019s author and illustrator of books that are a blend of Chinese and Western cultures, with a touch of fantasy. Gabrielle has twice won the Aurealis Award for Best Children\u2019s Long Fiction and her novels have been named Notables in the Children\u2019s Book Council of Australia Awards. Two of her works were Highly Commended in the Prime Minister\u2019s Literary Awards and her first novel, The Garden of Empress Cassia was listed on the USBBY Outstanding International Books Honour List. In fact Gabrielle\u2019s first book The Garden of Empress Cassia won Aurealis Award for Excellence in Speculative Fiction in 2002 and in 2003 it was the Winner of Best Children\u2019s Long Fiction and a notable book in the Children\u2019s Book Council of the Year Awards of that year, as well as being short listed in many Premier\u2019s awards. Gabrielle has now published sixteen children\u2019s novels with Penguin Books Australia as well as a picture book, The Race for the Chinese Zodiac with Walker Books. She is also published internationally in the US, UK, China, South America and Korea and is the author of two of the very popular \u2018Our Australian Girl\u2019 series.
