God’s Attributes always Harmonize

God’s love is radically different from the love people show to each other. The focus of His love is radically different, as well. What’s more, God loved us long before we ever loved Him. There’s no question that God isn’t just a God of love. The Bible speaks plainly about His wrath and judgment. In the end, the broader spectrum of God’s nature as revealed in Scripture reconciles the wrath/love dichotomy. After all, all of God’s attributes operate in unity. They never contradict. From our perspective, however, sometimes one of God’s attributes seems more obvious than another. But they always work together. We see this in Jeremiah 36:3 and 2 Peter 3:9, where we’re reminded that the purpose of God’s warnings of future judgment is this: to prompt men and women to turn from their sins toward God, so He can pour out His love on them. Jesus sternly warns the persistently ungodly that their unbelief is rebellion against the Most High and that they will be punished if they don’t turn from their wicked ways. But if they do repent, and that’s His greatest desire, God promises to give them the Holy Spirit to fill their hearts with His love. And He has made every sacrifice and provision to do just that. That’s the good news we should be sharing with our world. This is Andrew Palau.
