Jill Bubel, Trauma Injury Prevention Coordinator at Vassar Hospital, visits RadioRotary to promote the 2021 Fall Prevention Week, which begins with a picnic at Poughkeepsie\u2019s Bowdoin Park. sponsored by the Dutchess Country Office for the Aging. The event includes a balance class based on cognitive restructuring, Tai Chi, information about making homes safer, and more, including the introduction of Bingo-cise, which combines competitive Bingo with light exercise. Some 34,000 persons die each year as a result of falls, most of which could be prevented by steps such as providing safe homes, checking with a doctor or pharmacist on drug interactions, and exercising to keep the legs strong.
