Welcome to episode #121! Matt and Braden chat about the redeeming power of Jesus in our lives - and why that matters!

The Bible is a redemption story!
The Bible's message speaks towards God's plan to redeem humanity, and that message is revealed fully in Jesus and how He has redeemed us all! It is amazing to see just how powerful the work of Jesus is and how it restored all that was broken. This is a message of hope for all of us and it helps us frame our struggle with things like porn in a much different light. Often we feel defeated and beaten, resigned to a life of addiction and brokenness, but Jesus has shown us that that mindset is based in a lie and that he has paid the price for us and we have freedom and victory in Him!

What change does understanding this make for us?
When we have a defeatist mindset, we have taken our eyes off of God and placed it on our sin and self, and we can become overwhelmed and beaten down. But looking to Jesus gives us a picture and a path towards healing and freedom. He has done the work, but we have to receive it and make the choice to follow His path not our own. Faith does require our action, and part of that is receiving the truth of Jesus' redemptive work and then moving forward in that truth. If porn or other sexual issues are part of our story, movement on our part includes having accountability, being part of a healing group, having ongoing community and being honest. These things however are only beneficial when we understand and receive Jesus and live according to His truth and invite Him into the healing journey.
 
Jesus is at work in our lives!
Jesus wants to restore and redeem every detail of our present and our past no matter what it is! He also wants to use the pain we have been through and have felt to restore us but also help others. When God works in our lives, we see the effect of that transform not only us, but those around us. This can help in building a vision for what freedom looks like and how our healing journey can help spur others on too!!
