Hey Everyone,\n\nAngela Bowen here, the host of Together, We're Gonna Find Our Way: An Unofficial Silver Spoons Podcast.\n\nToday I covered S5E19: Baby Blues, which aired on February 17, 1987.\n\nIn this episode Rick fixes up an old classmate, now an unwed mother, with a contractor who has no idea he's dating a parent.\n\nI enjoyed this episode as we got to catch up with Beth, Rick's classmate from the Season 4, Daddy Rick Episode, that had to drop out when she became pregnant and is now a single mother working a part time job as a waitress while getting her GED and living at home with her parents and raising an infant son named Max. \n\nRick got on my nerves, setting Beth up with a construction worker and thinking Beth needed a man in her life to take care of her and how her son needed a man in his life to be a father for him. \n\nI mean she had enough on her plate without adding romance to it and the guy didn't look like he wanted to get settled down with a girl who had a kid. \n\nWe also get 100 percent clarification that Edward has no plans to have more children, granted both he and Kate are working at Eddie Toys and she's the vice president, so would Kate really want to juggle her job and raise a baby? Not that she couldn't if she wanted.\n\nShe's just gonna have to get her baby fix from babysitting Max.\n\nPlus Edward's 43 at this point and probably hoping to retire in 10-15 years so adding a baby and starting from square one seems like a moot point.\n\n and\n\nS5E20: Thoroughly Modern Mildred, which aired on February 26, 1987.\n\nIn this episode when Kate's grandmother arrives with her new boyfriend, everyone is shocked that they are sharing a bedroom - especially after Edward just criticized Rick for going a bit too far with a girl while he was out.\n\nKate really got in my craw this episode, and I applauded Mildred (Kate's Grandmother)when she finally stood up to Kate and told her to mind her own business and to stop meddling in her life when it came to Grandma and her boyfriend sharing a bed together.\n\nI also enjoyed the talk that Mildred had with Rick, he really gets her and actually listens where as Kate just tells her no you should be doing this or not doing this or living here so you have help.\n\nSeriously Kate, mind your business.\n\nJoin me next week when I cover S5E21: Pardon My French, which aired on February 27, 1987.\n\nIn this episode Grandfather Stratton returns from France, surprising everyone with his much younger fianc\xe9e.\n\nand\n\nS5E22: Educating Rick, which aired on March 2, 1987. \n\nIn this episode disappointed by Rick's interest in party schools, Edward steers him toward a more rigorous all-male college. But when Rick and Brad attend an open-house weekend, they have a hard time restraining their interest in the local female students.
