Happy Saturday Night,

Angela Bowen here the host of Together, We're Gonna Find Our Way: An Unofficial Silver Spoons Podcast.

S1E11: A Little Magic

Airdate: December 4, 1982

In this episode based on Derek's advice and a misunderstood conversation, Ricky is convinced Kate has fallen in love with him. Determined to find someone else for her, he decides to play matchmaker between her and his father.

Also in this episode we hear Ricky refer to himself as “The Ricker” for the first time. It definitely felt cringe inducing to me. Like Ricky please, how about call yourself the Rickster.

Derek reads Cosmopolitan magazine and schools Ricky in how older women go after younger guys as they approach the change of life at 30, how women become desperate for a younger guy before they dry up and he has convinced Ricky that Kate has the hots for him.

Sharon Stone plays Debbie an airhead (Kate’s words) of a parking meter maid.

Edward and Kate Look phenomenally dressed for their dinner (they don’t know that Ricky has set them up) but they realize they both have feelings for one another and end the evening with a kiss or two.

The episode closes out with a to be continued on the screen.

I wonder how this will play out.

Next week on the podcast we'll have S1E12: Falling in Love Again, which aired on December 11, 1982.

In this episode Despite the previous night's kiss, Edward and Kate start to feel defensive about their romance. When they both arrange grudge dates to make each other jealous, Ricky schemes to have his father crash Kate's date at Carnegie Hall.

And we get Ricky in drag in S1E14: The Most Beautiful Girl in the World, which aired on January 8, 1983.

In this episode After Derek saves Ricky's life, he pressures Ricky to find him a date for a co-ed party. But when Ricky can't find any girls who are willing, he feels obliged to pose as Derek's date.

Have a great weekend everyone!
