Celebrating Women's History Month

Happy Women\u2019s History month, so we just left Black History month I guess it is no longer important in some people\u2019s eyes as we approach the new universe of Women\u2019s month which started off as Women\u2019s History Week.  Women\u2019s History Month began as a local celebration in Santa Rosa, California. The Education Task Force of the Sonoma County (California) Commission on the Status of Women planned and executed a \u201cWomen\u2019s History Week\u201d celebration in 1978. The organizers selected the week of March 8 to correspond with International Women\u2019s Day. The movement spread across the country as other communities initiated their own Women\u2019s History Week celebrations the following year.

We celebrate Women's History Month to remind ourselves of the accomplishments of women throughout the years in our culture and society. From science to politics, it's is a chance to reflect on the trailblazing women who lead the way for change.
