108: Healthy Beginnings at Home--and the Difference Stable Housing Makes for Mothers and Babies

Published: May 30, 2022, 5:27 p.m.

On this episode, Dan Skinner talks with Maureen Stapleton, Director of Celebrate One, and housing expert Barbara Poppe, about the Healthy Beginnings at Home project. HBAH is a housing stabilization pilot program for pregnant women. Led by the infant mortality prevention collaborative CelebrateOne, but supported as well by an impressive and expansive group of organizations, HBAH was designed to improve maternal and infant health outcomes for low-income families. And while Dan, Maureen, and Barb get into the findings of the pilot phase of the project, and talk about how it might be scaled in such a way to start to help more and more families, they also talk about additional ways to address more systemic problems in housing in Ohio.\nHosted by Dan Skinner\nEditorial and Production Support by Trish Mayhorn\nMusic by Kyle Rosenberger\nSupport and Stream: prognosisohio.com\nPrognosis Ohio is a member of WCBE Podcast Experience and the Health Podcast Network.
