The Faithful King and the Fleeting Crowd

John 12:12-19

Passion Week is the most important week in human history, and Palm Sunday marks the first day of that week. On Palm Sunday, Jesus makes His triumphal entry into Jerusalem riding on a donkey. This is one of the rare events recorded in all four Gospels. With chaos surrounding him, Jesus set His face toward the Father in the most important week of His life. As followers of Jesus Christ, what lessons can we learn from the actions of our Faithful King in the midst of the fleeting crowd?

Luke 9:51- When the days drew near for him to be taken up, he set his face to go to Jerusalem.

  • “he set his face”: This is a Jewish expression for a firm, unwavering resolve to complete a task.

Jesus Christ set His face toward…

  • His Father’s mission, not man’s acceptance (v. 12-13).
  • His Father’s Word, not man’s opinion (v. 14-16).

- His Father’s will, not man’s tradition (v. 17-19).

Simple. Authentic. Jesus.
