An early proponent of \u201cgonzo journalism\u201d and is a self-described libertarian, O\u2019Rourke has served as editor-in-chief of National Lampoon, and has spent 20 years reporting for Rolling Stone and The Atlantic as the world\u2019s only \u201ctrouble spot humorist,\u201d going to wars, riots, rebellions, and other \u201cHolidays in Hell\u201d in more than 40 countries.
