On this episode of the Adventures of Pipeman, Pipeman speaks to Underoath, live from Rocklahoma.
The guys start by explaining Rocklahoma wouldn’t typically be their scene, however they always like to play these big rock festivals as it gives them a chance to play to people who wouldn’t have heard them before.
Speaking about the heat in Oklahoma and the incredible heat the last few months in venues worldwide, Pipeman says he doesn’t know how they manage to perform on stage when it’s so hot. The guys tell the story of playing the Austin 360 Amphitheatre, where the stage faces west and their keyboard player got mild heat stroke.
Pipeman brings up the Welcome to Rockville festival which had 5 evacuations due to the weather, which begs the question, why are you having festivals in hurricane season in Florida. It also leads to fans getting upset with bands for not playing, when it’s nothing to do with them. It costs a lot of money to put on these shows, so the bands want to get their money’s worth and perform.
The guys want to let you know they put out and album at the start of the year called Voyeurist, which is their most proud work because they produced it themselves, meaning there’s no one else involved, just Underoath. Be sure to check out on streaming platforms and by buying the physicals or the downloads, which really helps bands out these days.
