A Thousand Acres (1997)

This Pfriday takes us back to Shakespeare, as we harvest all we can from A THOUSAND ACRES, the Michelle Pfeiffer/Jessica Lange-led retelling of King Lear. A passion project for both actresses, this dark drama had a long, winding road from Pulitzer Prize-winning novel to a finished film neither particularly loved. We track this movie from start to finish, including Lange's Golden Globe nom and the outstanding landscape for awards in 1997, but the main focus is the joy of watching two titanic (see what we did there?) actresses act so beautifully opposite one another.
