This massive haunted attraction is made up of six buildings, up to six stories high, with two underground passages.\nThe story goes that the Portland Cement Works was cursed after the death of George Howe, who was was pulled into a coal grinder while performing nightly maintenance to oil the gears of the machine. Following the accident, many more deaths followed - falling into boiling vats, similar grinding accidents, death by suicide, dismemberment, and many others. The factory eventually shut down when it was finally realized that the factory was intent on keeping its gears oiled in blood.\nThe property fell into heavy disrepair and sat content as a vacant, yet actively haunted cement factory. Various businesses came along with good intentions, but never lasted long. So, in 2010 the Fear Factory group began exploring the expansive property, the silos, and the multiple underground tunnels.\nSince opening in 2011, it has been a fan favorite of Salt Lake City residents and visitors from across the globe. Today, Fear Factory has grown to be one of Utah\u2019s - and the world\u2019s - favorite Halloween entertainment attraction - despite requiring a signed waiver before entering.\nIn addition to the terrifying history and the Halloween scares, Fear Factory prides itself on being one of a very few haunted houses in the country to host the \u201cDon\u2019t Be a Monster\u201d anti-bullying program.
