Robin Hood Case Dropped!
http://freekeene.com/2013/12/04/breaking-news-robin-hood-cases-dismissed/
Lamborghini takes bitcoin? Hey everybody, Welcome to Peace News Now, your daily journal of peaceful resistance! I’m DerrickJ. Today’s Thursday, December 5th 2013. 1 ounce of silver is 20 dollars. 1 Bitcoin is 1000 dollars. This episode is brought to you by friends of http://WeUseCoins.com . You’ve probably been hearing a lot about bitcoin in the news. If you’d like to learn more about how you can use this new currency, I recommend you visit http://WeUseCoins.com . It’s the perfect launching pad to get started. That’s http://WeUseCoins.com
Bitcoin is everywhere these days. A police chief in Kentucky is now paid his salary in bitcoins, and you can even buy groceries at Whole Foods using Gyft cards purchased with bitcoins. This week, a man at a sports game was featured by ESPN’s cameras holding a sign that read, “Hi mom, send bitcoin.” The sign included a scannable QR-code, and he received over $25,000 dollars in just 2 days. He could have kept it, but instead, he vowed to donate everything above 2.2 bitcoins to “Sean’s Outpost,” a bitcoin-based homeless shelter. A man of his word, he already donated more than $11,000. Details can be found on the Bitcoin Reddit page.
Also in the news this week, Lamborghini of Newport Beach California proudly announced on its blog that they accept Bitcoin as legal tender for all vehicles. The first bitcoin sale for the dealership was a Tesla S, which cost about 80 bitcoins. Meanwhile, an Iranian shoemaker in business for 70 years can finally expand his market internationally. Previously, it had been illegal for them to receive most forms of electronic payment, but oppressive governments can’t stop bitcoin. Now they’re doing more business than ever!
Speaking of oppressive governments, you may remember that Keene’s Robin Hood and his Merry Men, the group who goes around town feeding expired parking meters, was in the middle of not one, but two lawsuits. Today I am happy to report that Ian Freeman writes at FreeKeene.com that they are victorious over the lying, corrupt “City of Keene” in BOTH Robin Hood cases! The first civil case was filed by “the City” back in May against six Keene activists, in hopes of banning them from being near, speaking to, or recording video of the parking enforcers. It was heard over three full days of court in the summer, and heroic free speech attorney Jon Meyer filed a motion to dismiss the case.
Attorney Meyer’s motion has now been granted. The man wearing the black robe also dismissed the second civil case against Robin Hood that was filed by town bureaucrats in September, seeking quote, “monetary damages”. The second suit proved what we all knew all along -- the very thing that the bureaucrats originally denied with their first lawsuit – that ultimately this was about their lost parking revenue.
Robin Hood has been completely vindicated. The bureaucrats were lying (as is typical of governments) when they claimed Robin Hooders were harassing, intimidating, and threatening their parking enforcers. Again, the proof that they were lying is that no Robin Hooder has ever been arrested for “harassment”. The city people tried to avoid responsibility for their actions by taking individuals to court for doing nothing more than exercising their rights to free speech and to hold bureaucrats accountable. The court made the right decision by dismissing these frivolous, aggressive, unconstitutional cases.
Will “the City” appeal the case to the supreme court? Given their past history of blowing taxpayer dollars on frivolous appeals, there is a good chance they will. They don’t know how to handle taking “no” for an answer. They even spent your taxpayer money hiring bigshot private attorneys to handle the Robin Hood cases.
Meanwhile, Robin Hooders are still on the streets of Keene, saving countless motorists from the aggression of the parking enforcement bureaucracy! They won’t go away until the enforcers do. So far, one enforcer quit over the Summer. Will the remaining two follow suit? Will “the city” be able to find anyone willing to fill the empty position? Will they come up with some ridiculous ordinance against Robin Hooding? Stay tuned here to FreeKeene.com for continued updates on the Robin Hood saga.
