My conversation with Melody Meyer, is a great way to kick off Women's History Month on OVM. \xa0 Meyer is a trailblazer for women in energy and started in the industry 40 years ago.\xa0 You could count her female colleagues on one hand -- or less.\xa0 Talk about feeling like "the other!"\xa0 Today, after retiring from a stellar career at Chevron, Meyer is embracing her second act, advocating for parity and transparency in the industry to which she has devoted her life -- an industry which itself is often "otherized."\xa0 \xa0
How did she deal with being the only woman in a male-dominated industry in her early years?\xa0 How can the industry do a better job of telling its story?\xa0 And what's her advice for women leaders and those who aspire to lead?\xa0 Our conversation covers all of this and more, including the recently announced reorganization of energy giant, BP. \xa0 Meyer is a BP Board Director.
Meyer was trained as a mechanical engineer and started her career designing offshore platforms and pipelines.\xa0 She now shares her passion, experience and expertise to help navigate the energy transition toward a net zero carbon future.\xa0 It's going to take all of us to get there.\xa0 And Meyer says our chances are best if we focus on education, conservation and a climate solutions mentality.
