16/05/2022 - National Volunteers Week: volunteers making a difference in Child Protection

Published: May 17, 2022, 1:30 a.m.

National Volunteer Week is Australia\u2019s largest annual celebration of volunteering (16-22 May).

Volunteers play a critical role at the Department for Child Protection, supporting children and young people in care in a variety of ways, including transport to appointments, family contact and respite care.

Listen to Sue and Bob as they describe the impact their work has in assisting young people in care, and the positive effect it brings to their own lives.

The department currently has about 180 volunteers located across the state, but more are needed to ensure children and young people in care have the support they need to access important appointments, contact with their birth families and after school/recreational activities.\xa0
