What is the Outer Darkness in the Bible? Is it hell?

There are three passages in Scripture which refer to the outer darkness (Matthew 8:12; Matthew 22:13; Matthew 25:30) and most people believe these refer to hell. But they do not.

\nThe outer darkness in Matthew is NOT a reference to hell, but is instead a way of describing the profound shame and regret that some Christians will experience when Jesus returns physically to this earth. Rather than celebrate in the Wedding Feast of the Lamb, some Christians will be in the darkness outside the party.
