In this episode of PixMix, Patricia and Arun discuss about the 2021 Pixar animated film Luca featuring the directing debut of Enrico Casarosa who had worked on the Pixar short La Luna. The story is about a group of sea monsters named Luca and Alberto journeying into a small Italian town called Portorosso to get themselves a Vespa to travel where they wish to get their freedom. Luca is trying to get freedom from his overprotective parents while Alberto lives the way he wants due to his father letting him live his own life. The only way they can get a Vespa is if they win the Portorosso Cup Race involving with swimming, eating pasta, and biking. They team up with a girl named Giulia and together they train to win the Cup as well as Luca learning about life in the surface. \xa0\xa0\nLuca was released on Disney+ due to COVID-19 on June 18, 2021 with some critics and fans saving positive reviews on its more laidback, atmospheric, and simple approach while others feel that Pixar is losing their touch on telling compelling stories with deep morals, especially after being released after the critically acclaimed film Soul.
