However, his family has a hatred towards music dating back to Miguel's great-great grandmother whose husband left to be a musician. During Dia de los Muertos, Miguel wants to enter a music contest, but his family refuses to let him. He runs away and tries to steal Ernesto's guitar, but ends up in the Land of the Dead. He wishes to meet up with Ernesto, his supposed great-great grandfather, to get his blessings to return home before Dia de los Muertos ends. Before the film started, it came with a short called Olaf's Frozen Adventure.\nWhen the movie premiered in theaters, it received critical acclaim from critics and fans making $807 million dollars on a $175 million dollar budget making it the highest grossing film in Mexico.
