DreamMachine Episode 2: Rise of the Guardians

Published: Dec. 26, 2019, 5 p.m.

In this special Christmas episode of DreamMachine, Patricia and Arun discuss about the 2012 DreamWorks animated film Rise of the Guardians based on the book series of the same name written by William Joyce. The story is about Jack Frost, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, and the Sandman fighting against the Boogeyman as The Guardians.\xa0\nWhen the movie premiered in theaters, it made double its budget with over $300 million dollars with mixed to positive reviews. However, it was considered to be a failure since it made less than enough to turn in a profit for its high production costs and marketing. It was the first DreamWorks animated film since Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas to cause the company to lose money. With that, they had fired 350 of their employees and restructured their company starting with The Croods. Some people say it was the last good DreamWorks animated film for their golden age. Others say it was the first of many mediocre titles. What do Arun and Patricia think? Listen and find out.\n\n--- \n\nSupport this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/old-school-lane/support
