Hello Geisties, it’s Liana, one half of Nightgeist.
This is a special short non-episode, as California is dealing with a really intense, horrible group of fires, and I just wanted to give an update.
Erica and her family have been evacuated, along with my dad, and 180,000 other folks in Sonoma County, and possibly soon, Lake County. While some people have been allowed to go back home, they’re still on Evacuation warning at this time, with no power.
As of right now, 75415 acres have been burned, 15% of the fire has been contained, and unfortunately they’re expecting another wind event today, Wednesday the 30th.
On a positive note, there have been no deaths this time around due to the preemptive evacuations and the lessons learned from the fires in the last two years, where over 100 people lost their lives, including several firefighters.
The firefighters, the national guard, and all other emergency response folks have been working around the clock to keep one of the most beautiful places on Earth from completely going up in flames again. In addition to all of these amazing warriors, we have thousands of people offering shelter in their own homes, volunteers and fosters to help with pets and providing food, amenities and care to those that are displaced.
I miss living in Sonoma County so much simply because of the love that people show to one another. So if you’re able, please head to our website, www.nightgeistpod.com and check out the new link I’ve included. It’s a link that takes you to a list of donation sites, put together by locals, to ensure that the money goes to the people that need it most.
We will continue to keep you updated via social Media, so we apologize for this lapse in our content, however we want you to know that we love you all, and that we appreciate your listening in. We will be back to our regularly scheduled programming as soon as Erica is allowed back home and the power is restored. Send whatever good thoughts and magic you can to our Firefighters and other emergency response teams, California needs your love right now.
