The Locked Room Murder of Joseph Bowne Elwell
On June 11th 1920 notorious bridge player and American Success Story Joseph Bowne Elwell was found murdered in his home. He was found in a chair in his living room with his brains blown out. What makes this murder so mysterious was that the living room was locked from the inside. There was no signs of struggle, no gun, and no fingerprints. The case soon had no suspects as the police uncovered Elwell's life of philandering with women.
