For those who have been listeners since the start of NVN, you know that the very first episode in 2017 was about Aileen Wuornos. But the recent episodes provide a lot more depth and offer details that we found through documentaries and books that were in Aileen’s words. This truly changed my perspective on the person she was. This made me want to look more into other female killers (some we’ve discussed briefly and others we’ve never talked about on the podcast).

Heather and Karah will be covering some "Lady Killers" in this mini-series. In this episode, we’re going to talk about Anna Marie Hahn.

As a quick summary, Anna Marie Hahn was a 26-year old immigrant from Germany who offered her services in Cincinnati as a live-in attendant for elderly men. Over a period of about a year she would end up taking all she could from 5 victims (all of their assets) before finally murdering them once they had nothing left for her to take.

She used a different poison each time she killed her victims. Once suspicions were raised, police exhumed the bodies of her victims aka her former employers, and she was arrested. Even though it was pretty clear that she was the killer, she still attempted a mercy killing defense…which didn’t pan out. And in 1938, Anna Marie Hahn became the first woman in Ohio’s history to die in the electric chair.
