In this episode of Serial Streamers Jami recaps the Netflix reality docuseries, Unlocked: A Jail Experiment. Jami gives listeners a solid Cliffs Notes version of the 2024 docuseries, and shares her own opinions on the unusual experiment that allows detention center inmates to be outside of their jail cells 24/7 with no deputies inside of the pod to watch over them. The experiment begins with some chaos, as inmates push boundaries and break rules which threatens their ability to continue participating in the experiment. Over time, however, inmates within the pod begin forming a community, learning to problem solve without violence, and living by the rules set forth by authorities without their constant presence.
