The problem we all have regarding self-control and willpower is: how do we get them? You’ve said it a thousand times in one way or another, “If I had willpower, I could [fill in the blank].” And, “If I had self-control I wouldn’t have [fill in the blank].” What are we actually saying when we say, “If I had [fill in the blank]?”
How about this, “If I had three million dollars, I would retire and spend all my days traveling and photographing landscapes.” I know what I’d do if I had three million dollars, the hard part is: how do I get three million dollars? Regarding the elusive self-control and willpower, how do you get them?
