G7 countries to ban Russian diamonds

The G7 nations have agreed to ban the importation of Russian diamonds from the beginning of 2024.  

While it\u2019s an effort to curb Russia\u2019s funding for the war in Ukraine, it\u2019s unlikely to have a huge financial impact because of their links to Dubai and China.  

So what\u2019s happening in the diamond trade? Have the African nations gotten a handle on the issues there?
