In 1963, Dr. Gilbert Mason led a group of African-Americans into the waters of Biloxi beach.\xa0 This wade-in, to protest the \u2018whites only\u2019 rule of the day, was met with violent resistance from white citizens and the police.\xa0Ethel Clay remembers how the youth got involved in the wade-ins and the measures taken for their safety.\xa0Clay reflects on the cost of standing up for civil rights and the progress that we\u2019ve made as a nation.
