ADHD - Traditionally thought of as a little-boy mental health picture is fast becoming recognised as something that many of us have been living with and creating coping mechanisms around, without being given the recognition of being neurodivergent - I am one such person diagnosed at the ripe old age of 47 - today’s show while focused primarily on children as Dr James Greenblatt’s work is focused there, it is very much a show for anyone who works with, lives with, cares for, teaches or loves anyone who either has a formal diagnosis or who you simply think “what is up with them!?” often about what they forget, their busy-ness, their inability to follow up or get a ‘simple’ thing done, their tapping their foot while you try to talk about something super important or perhaps their ‘too much’ ness sometimes. The shame that many people with ADHD feel for not being able to be like everyone wants or needs them to is really something that need not exist if we embrace diversity and difference and help each human find the space to thrive within our beautiful human race. I hope you enjoy this show as much as I did as we explore the many support tools on offer, the lack of judgement around stimulant medication, the importance of tools tips and tricks to bring out one’s best and the critical importance of removing food from the landscape that sabotages the neurodivergent brain more and faster than anything - ultra-processed food!
