The modern world being what it is and modern peoples being what they are, the effort is constantly towards making time something one can see or feel. We liken it to a river or a force or even something like another dimension of space. A better analogy would be to think of time as a dollar or unity of value. Obviously, there is no actual unit of value even though things do have value. But we artificially divide values into units so as to universalize our transactions. Everything can be given a dollar value and then exchanged according to their dollar value. Time is the context in which events take place but without a unit of time these events cannot be communicated. Time exists as value exists, but it is just the context in which events occur.
