There is an absolute morality of human progress is impossible. If progress is not guided by an absolute right and wrong then civilization has no direction and cultures are all just ways of life with no value or meaning. The issue has aways been that a categorical moral virtue must be objective and the same for all persons, places and times, and this was not considered possible. This position implies the person holding the opinion understands what an absolute morality looks like but rejects it as a guide for him or her. There is an absolute morality and it can be quantified and there is an immoral even evil reason why there are people and places who refuse to follow their moral conscience.
